Górnik Zabrze is considering inviting a foreign team to improve the profitability of its stadium. The mayor of Zabrze, Kamil Żbikowski, revealed that the main candidate is Shakhtar Donetsk, which is looking for a new venue to play its matches following the Russian aggression in Ukraine. Górnik's stadium could become a new home for the Ukrainian club, which previously played at Wisła Kraków's stadium. With Wisła no longer offering its venue, Zabrze has a chance to collaborate with Shakhtar.

The idea of collaborating with a foreign club has strong financial justification. Kamil Żbikowski noted that increased usage of the stadium at Roosevelta could help cover maintenance costs. Notably, Górnik's leader, Lukas Podolski, suggested inviting a club that cannot play at its own stadium.

The mayor emphasized that the natural direction for such searches would be clubs from Ukraine, which could have symbolic significance. Shakhtar Donetsk, whose name means 'miner' in Ukrainian, could be an ideal solution. Żbikowski pointed out that for the stadium to be profitable, two large clubs should play there, which is a challenge under current conditions.

At this moment, no binding decisions have been made regarding the potential relocation of Shakhtar Donetsk to Zabrze. This topic remains one of the considered solutions that could contribute to improving the financial situation of Górnik Zabrze.
