Górnik Zabrze is a showcase of a faded Zabrze, a colorful bird on a black and white picture. Even though it's been almost 40 years since they've won anything. Tomasz Loska, who has been associated with Górnik for a long time, explains this phenomenon. We are from a region where people from all over Poland came to work in the mines. Górnik gives color to this gray, Silesian, sometimes industrial reality. For players leaving the club, regardless of whether it's 12 or 18, there's always someone from the fans waiting at the gate. Lukas Podolski is preparing to take over the club. Officially, because he's been in charge for a long time. Górnik is consistently changing to keep up with the rapidly changing reality. It's working out better and better for them. Unlike other city clubs, they've stopped waiting for a transfer from the city hall. In Górnik, they even wanted to get rid of it. The plan is to cut ties on May 23, when the city will sell the club to Lukas Podolski. Górnik is losing money, among other things, due to the lack of equipment for the fourth stand, which the city doesn't have the funds for. That's where the boxes are, which generate the most revenue. It's estimated that the cost of equipping this empty space will be 50 million zlotys. Maybe some of the funds can be obtained by selling the stadium's name, and such a sponsor can be brought in by Podolski. Górnik wants to increase ticket sales. They're aiming for 12,500 for the next season. Górnik, along with the new team and Podolski as the general, is learning to earn money on their own. For years, the previous management thought differently, getting used to what was easy. They functioned like in the PRL era, stretching out their hands for money from the patron, in this case, the city council. A increasingly poor council. Górnik was sailing on thin ice and everyone saw it except those who were navigating the ship. Then Podolski appeared. A son from Sośnica, a 2014 world champion, who first watched what was happening in the club. Eventually, it started to annoy him so much that he became more and more active. Finally, it led him to take over the club. Górnik is becoming modern, competing with the Ekstraklasa leaders not only on the pitch but also in financial matters. And Górnik Zabrze has many challenges ahead, but with the new team and Podolski as the general, they are able to overcome them. But Górnik Zabrze cannot stop, they must constantly develop to maintain a high level. So Górnik Zabrze is ready to fight for the highest goals in Ekstraklasa.
