Górnik Zabrze is introducing a new model for young player development aimed at shortening the path for the most talented players from the academy to the first team. The club has decided to end the operation of the reserve team in its current form, which is part of a long-term development strategy. The new model will see the most gifted players from the Górnik Academy closely integrated with the first team and central league competitions. This will allow them to train regularly at the highest sporting level without the need to play in the reserves.
The decision for these changes was made after a detailed analysis of the infrastructural conditions and the possibilities for further player development. The current training facilities do not provide optimal conditions for running a second team that would meet the club's ambitions. Therefore, Górnik Zabrze is developing a network of partner clubs to create an environment where young players can regularly compete at a high level.
Lukas Podolski, the owner of Górnik Zabrze, emphasized the importance of the Academy, stating that the most talented players will develop better and faster in adult football through partnerships with other clubs. Łukasz Milik, the sports director, added that the new model aims to increase the effectiveness of the player development process and create more opportunities for regular play.
An important element of the new project will be individual oversight of players on loan. A development coach will be responsible for monitoring the players' progress and coordinating their training process, ensuring the best possible conditions for further advancement.
Górnik Zabrze hopes that the new strategy will contribute to the faster integration of young talents into the first team, which is crucial for the club's future.
