Górnik Zabrze is preparing for the new season. After the departure of Patrik Hellebrand to Korona Kielce, coach Michal Gasparik is looking for new reinforcements. Hellebrand was a key figure in the midfield and one of the architects of the successes of the Zabrze team. Gasparik admitted that the player's decision was a surprise to him, but after talking to the player, he better understood the motives of his choice. Górnik will compete not only in domestic competitions but also on the international stage. Coach Gasparik announced that the squad is not yet closed and the club plans to further strengthen the offense. Several new players have already joined the team, including 23-year-old German Philipp Schulze, acquired from SC Verl. Górnik will have to face Turkish giant Fenerbahce Istanbul in the Champions League qualifiers. Gasparik admitted that such a draw even pleased him, but he is aware that the opponent has many experienced players and is the favorite of this double match. The advantage of Zabrze will be the replay in front of their own audience. Górnik has more stability than last year, when half of the team was new, and many young players joined the team. Today, Gasparik can work more calmly on the development of the team. After the end of the season, the club said goodbye to Patrik Hellebrand, Marcel Łubik, and experienced defender Paweł Olkowski. The symbolic end of an era is also marked by the end of Lukas Podolski's career.
